Celebrating Kendra Rowan’s Life through Art
October 30, 4:30-6:30pm
Unitarian Universalist Society, 121 N. Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA
A long time member of our group passed away on August 17, 2018 after a long struggle with a rare genetic disorder that was misdiagnosed for years. Her tenacity, creativity, resourcefulness, and care of others in the face of physical pain and disability was an honor to witness. And, as members of the NAWCI support groups, we also got to witness her struggles with a medical system that in so many ways failed her. We also got to witness her perseverance to keep going in trying to find a path to healing.
Aside from and despite struggles with her health, Kendra was a wonderful artist and passionate about connecting with the beauty of the natural world in any way that she could. In memory and honor of Kendra, we will be holding an art and crafts making gathering on October 30 at Amherst Unitarian Universalist Church, 121 N Pleasant St., from 4:30-6:30pm. Art and crafting supplies will be available and you are also welcome to bring your own. Snacks and drinks will be provided with detailed labels and will try to be free of all major allergens since many of our members have food allergies and/or sensitivities.
If you would like to make a contribution in Kendra’s honor, her family has suggested making a donation to Common Art for the Homeless in Boston, a place that Kendra volunteered at and was dear to her heart. Donations in Kendra’s name can be made online at http://commoncathedral.org/donations (Where it says “Add special instructions to the seller”, write: “Direct to Common Art”.) Or by sending a check to: Common Cathedral, 15 Newbury Street, Boston MA 02116 (be sure to specify that its for “Common Art” in the note section on the check).
Kendra’s obituary can be found here: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/gazettenet/obituary.aspx?n=kendra-rowan&pid=190066015&
We hope you can make it, whether or not you knew Kendra.
April 10, 2018 – Special Guest Speaker Jacqueline Kane
We are excited to share a special opportunity to meet and learn from Jacqueline Kane, a Get Out of Pain Specialist, who will be a guest speaker to our evening support group, Tuesday, March 13, 6:00pm at the Lilly Library in Florence.
After 15 years in private practice as a healer, Jacqueline’s journey as a Bowenwork Therapist, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Expert, Evolutionary Meditation Facilitator, Soul Clearings, Tapping into Wealth Coach and Massage Therapist, she discovered the crucial hidden links between physical pain, finances, and our ability to live with joy and ease.
Her research led her to create unique, results-oriented methods for uncovering these connections. To learn more about Jaqueline visit her website: http://jacquelinemkane.com/
We hope you can join us and please invite any woman who could benefit from this special opportunity.
